How we check the rules
Every rule on this site comes from Starlink’s own text, with the date we read it. Here’s the whole process.
Where the facts come from
First choice is Starlink’s own words: its Referral Program Terms, Terms of Service and help-center articles. We read the text those pages load, not someone’s summary of it. We store each fact once, with its source, the exact quote where there is one, and the date we read it. Every page pulls from that one store, so a fix in one place fixes it everywhere.
Last full check: . Starlink sources we check:
- Referral Program Terms, US (starlink.com legal document DOC-1882-84808-83)
- Starlink legal documents for the US (list with publish dates)
- How do I use a referral link? (Starlink help center)
- How do I refer people to Starlink? (Starlink help center)
- Starlink Terms of Service, US (sections 3, 6.2 and 6.3)
- How do I return my Starlink kit? (Starlink help center)
- How does pausing service work? (Starlink help center)
- What are the Residential plans? (Starlink help center)
- What are the Roam service plans? (Starlink help center)
What the labels mean
- Starlink's own text: Read from Starlink's own help-center or legal-document text (the JSON the starlink.com pages load) on the date shown.
- Starlink page, via search: Starlink wording read through search-engine results, because the page itself only loads with JavaScript.
- Press report: Reported by press or a retailer, with that source's date. Labeled wherever it appears.
- Our reading: Not stated by Starlink in so many words. Our plain reading of Starlink's own text, labeled as such.
- Unverified: No source states it, or sources conflict. Never shown as a number or a promise.
How often we re-check
- Weekly: the Referral Program Terms’ publish date, and the two referral help articles.
- Every 30 days at most: every fact. The site won’t build with an older one. Our tests fail until someone re-reads the source.
- When Starlink changes something: we update the fact, date it, and post a news note saying what changed and what didn’t.
Evergreen vs time-sensitive
How billing cycles and service credits work changes rarely. Eligibility rules, plan lists and prices can change on short notice: Starlink’s terms allow 30 days. Time-sensitive facts always show a date. We never just bump a date without re-reading the source.
Examples
Where we use made-up dates or situations to explain something, we label them “hypothetical”.
How this site is written
Pages are drafted with AI help. Every rule is then tied to a quoted, dated Starlink source, and the build checks that the sources exist and are fresh. Screenshots, when added, are the owner’s own and dated.
Corrections
If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us. We fix it and log the change, with the date, on the corrections page. We don’t quietly edit and pretend it was always right.
