Troubleshooting
Paused, cancelled or switched to Standby early?
The free month rewards staying. Stepping off a full-speed plan before bill 2 is where it slips away.
Short answer
The credit comes off bill 2, and Starlink asks new customers to activate your kit and stay subscribed for at least 2 months. Standby is a low-speed pause, and it doesn’t count. Pausing or cancelling before bill 2 can mean no free month.
“The Referred Subscriber must maintain continuously subscribed and in good standing for two full monthly billing cycles in order for a Pending Referral to mature to an Eligible Referral.”
Why it happens
If you cancel, there’s no bill 2 for the credit to come off. If you move to Standby, you’re no longer on a full-speed plan, and those two cycles have to be on one. Standby Mode pauses high-speed service for a small monthly fee; it isn't offered on promotional offers or select kit rentals.
What you can still do
- Still before bill 2? Switch back to a full-speed plan from your account’s Subscriptions page before the bill is generated.
- Already past bill 2 with no credit? Ask support. Say when you paused and resumed. The terms point against you, so expect a no.
- Cancelled and returned the kit within 30 days? Then your refund covers month 1. That’s the trade.
If you might not keep Starlink
Judge it inside the 30-day return window, not by the free month. The return window protects your money. The free month only rewards staying.
